Corporate data transparency to unlock climate action and catalyze new markets

Carbon Accountable was created in August 2020 as a launching pad for a California campaign to advance mandatory corporate emissions reporting, and was the original sponsor of the landmark legislation, SB 253 - The California Corporate Climate Data Accountability Act, that is now enshrined into law. It’s thrilling to see California again take the lead to ensure that companies have the emissions data they need to manage and inform their decarbonization journey and empower consumers and investors to take smart climate action.

Now the focus is on fulfilling the promise of both SB 253 and its companion law SB 261 by supporting robust implementation of California’s Corporate Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting and Climate Related Financial Risk Disclosure Programs.
